Charities looking to apply for the first phase of funding through the Million Hours Fund to offer young people opportunities have just days to apply, after the deadline was brought forward due to “significant demand” from applicants.
The deadline for this first round of funding, which being offered by the government with the National Lottery Community Fund and is worth £3m, had been set at 12noon on 14 August.
However, this deadline has been brought forward by 10 days to 12noon on 4 August instead.
The government has also confirmed that as applications are being dealt with on a rolling basis once the £3m budget has been allocated “no further grants will be assessed” through this first phase of funding.
“Please note that the closing date has been brought forward due to significant demand,” said the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
This initial tranche of funding for activities for young people this school summer holiday is the first phase in a total pot of £11m being made available up to March 2025.
The money is for projects that support young people aged 11 to 18, and up to 25 with special educational needs and disabilities.
Money is being targeted at projects in areas with the highest number of antisocial behaviour incidents, including Bristol, Luton, Middlesbrough, Plymouth, Torbay, Manchester and London.
